East Africa or Eastern Africa is the easterly region of the African continent and includes several African countries. African Footprint Safaris is found in Tanzania, Kenya and Rwanda.
Tanzania is known for its vast wilderness areas which include the plains of Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater and the Tarangire all populated by “big” game. Tanzania is also the home of Africa’s highest mountain, Kilimanjaro and the Arabic influenced, tropical island of Zanzibar.
Situated directly above Tanzania on the Indian ocean, Kenya encompasses endless savannah plains, lake-lands, the dramatic Great Rift Valley, mountain highlands and scorched deserts interrupted by snow-capped mountains including Mount Kenya. Kenya is also home of the Masai Mara National Park and the Maasai people themselves.
Rwanda, known as the “land of a thousand hills” is a small landlocked country in East Africa characterised by undulating hilly and mountainous terrain. Rwanda is one of Africa’s most biodiverse regions and home to the iconic mountain silverback gorilla of the Virunga Massif.
