Southern Africa is the southernmost region of the African continent and includes a number of African countries. African Footprint Safaris operates in South Africa, Botswana, Namibia and Zimbabwe.
South Africa has an abundance of wildlife and scenery from sandy beaches, forest-covered cliffs, marine life rich coastlines, arid deserts, peak-filled mountain ranges to open bushveld savannah - often termed "a world in one country." South Africa is rich in culture and history. The country is also home to the Kruger National Park, the Natal coastline, the lush winelands of the Cape and the city of Cape Town beneath the famous flat-topped Table Mountain.
Referred to often as the "wildlife capital of Africa”, Botswana is landlocked country in the centre of southern Africa. The country’s most striking features are its flatness and aridity - the Kalahari Desert. Botswana is also famous for the Okavango Delta which is a wetland within a desert, the Linyanti and Chobe wildlife reserves.
Namibia is an arid country situated in the western section of Southern Africa. It’s a country of surprising contrasts and is home to two great deserts -the Namib desert inland along the Atlantic coastline and the interior, with the Kalahari Desert in the north and east. A number of cultural influences have added to the unique atmosphere of Namibia and it is also home to diverse wildlife and dramatic scenery.
Situated between two great rivers, Zimbabwe lies beneath the mighty Zambezi river in the North and the Limpopo river in the south. Zimbabwe has a variety of habitats from granite hills to majestic mountains, lush forests and beautiful rivers. Zimbabwe is home to magnificent wildlife areas and also has a rich culture going back thousands of years.
